SQL Server/T-SQL Tutorial/Analytical Functions/STDEV
Aggregate Functions STDEV and STDEVP
STDEV computes the standard deviation of all the values listed in a column of expression.
(The standard deviation is computed as the square root of the corresponding variance.)

STDEV() Function is a calculation based on the variance of a numeric range of values.
Actually, it"s simply the square root of the variance.
