DAYOFMONTH(date) returns the day of the month for a given date.

mysql>
mysql> SELECT DAYOFMONTH(20000201);

DAYOFMONTH(date) returns the day of the month for date, in the range 0 to 31.

DAY() is a synonym for DAYOFMONTH().
